Businesslike and cozy

A hotel on the outskirts of the city, in the greenery, by the water, and with plenty of parking spaces. With a swimming pool, a bowling alley, and lots of meeting space. A good restaurant with a delightful terrace and a cozy bar. That is what Hotel Mitland stands for. But now that Hotel Mitland is celebrating its 100th anniversary, this summary is a bit too brief. Therefore, hotel manager Remko Engelman provides an explanation of the hotel's offerings.

How would you describe Hotel Mitland?
“Hotel Mitland is a family hotel with many business guests. The atmosphere of the hotel has many fathers. The family feeling comes from the four brothers who run this business as owners. Friendliness goes hand in hand with business professionalism. And that is wonderful to work in.”

But which customers does Mitland target?
“The offer provides something for everyone. Couples who cycle through the region and stay with us are just as dear to us as the medics from the academic hospital nearby. Both business guests and tourists on city trips stay in our hotel. We also receive many guests from the cultural sector, from artists to support staff. And in March we fill up quickly when the bulbs come into bloom. Then there are many foreign guests. With the Science Park around the corner and the beautiful city center of Utrecht as an attraction, our hotel meets a need. We love both the business market and leisure equally.”

Is Hotel Mitland a true four-star hotel?
“In fact, it is much more than that. Our offer exceeds those four stars. Guests can see that in the size of the rooms, which are just a bit larger than standard. Moreover, guests have the option to exercise in the gym or use the sauna or the swimming pool. And then you swim with an unobstructed view over the water. Our prices are at the level of four stars. At Hotel Mitland, guests get value for their money, I am convinced of that.”

What is the connection between the restaurant, the bowling alley, and the conference center?
“Hotel Mitland strengthens the various other business units: Mitland Meetings, Restaurant Vlonders, and Mitland Bowling. This ensures that guests have access to various facilities within reach during their stay. A delightful stay on the terrace of Restaurant Vlonders (‘a hidden gem’) can be alternated with a game of bowling.”

How do you know that customers are satisfied?
“Personal contact with our guests is the most important thing. By paying attention to our guests, as an employee, you immediately hear what they really think, whether they are truly satisfied. For us, that is essential. In addition, the online reviews certainly don’t lie. The personal attention given to guests is highlighted there. And when you compare that to the large hotel chains, it often stands out with us. Or as I recently read in a guest review: ‘Hotel Mitland is a cozy business hotel’. That makes us happy.”
