Bicycle tour Utrecht masters

In Utrecht, you can admire the arts of the Utrecht masters from the 17th century at the Centraal Museum. But the artworks have also been brought to the neighborhoods of Utrecht. In collaboration with the Centraal Museum Utrecht, the artist collective De Strakke Hand transformed several walls in the city into immensely large paintings. This bike route takes you past the impressive murals that turn Utrecht into an open-air museum.

This is how The Flute Player by Abraham Bloemaert (1621) looks over the city from an eleven-story apartment building. Next to The Flute Player, you will also encounter a Lute Player (1622) by the Utrecht Caravaggist Dirck van Baburen. On Pieter Saenredamstraat, it seems as if you can step right into the St. Catharine's Church, but nothing is as it seems. Artist Pieter Saenredam painted the interior of the church between 1655 and 1660; the work you see life-sized on this wall. The only painting not by a 17th-century artist, but still by a Utrecht master, is the mural by Pyke Koch. He painted the portrait of his wife in 1940.

Cycle through the city and immerse yourself in the art of Utrecht masters. At the Centraal Museum, admire the original works and many more beautiful artworks. Start or end your bike ride at the museum and relax on the terrace of the Museum Café.
