At Hotel Mitland, guests get value for money

A hotel on the edge of town, in the green, near the water and parking spaces galore. With a swimming pool, a bowling alley and plenty of meeting space. A good restaurant with a lovely terrace and a cozy bar. That is what Hotel Mitland stands for. But now that Hotel Mitland is celebrating its 100th anniversary, this summary is a bit too short. Therefore from hotel manager Remko Engelman an explanation of the hotel's offerings.

How would you characterize Hotel Mitland?
"Hotel Mitland is a family hotel with many business guests. The atmosphere of the hotel has many fathers. The family feeling comes from the four brothers who run this business as owners. Conviviality goes hand in hand with business professionalism. And that is wonderful to work in."

But which customers does Mitland target?
"The offerings provide something for everyone. Couples cycling through the region and staying with us are just as dear to us as the medics at the university hospital nearby. Both business guests and tourists on city trips stay at our hotel. From the cultural sector, we also receive many guests, from artists to support staff. And in March we are quickly full when the bulbs come into bloom. Then there are many foreign guests. With the Science Park around the corner and the beautiful city center of Utrecht as an attraction, our hotel meets a need. The business market and leisure are equally dear to us."

Is Mitland Hotel a real four-star hotel?
"In fact, it is much more than that. Our offer exceeds those four stars. Guests see this in the size of the rooms, which are just a touch larger than standard. There is also the possibility for guests to exercise in the gym or use the sauna or swimming pool. And so then you swim with unobstructed views over the water. Our prices are at the level of four stars. In Hotel Mitland guests get value for money, I'm convinced of that."

What is the relationship between the restaurant, the bowling and the meeting center?
"Hotel Mitland reinforces the various other business units: Mitland Meetings, Restaurant Vlonders and Mitland Bowling. As a result, guests are assured of various facilities within easy reach during their stay. A lovely stay on the terrace of Restaurant Vlonders ('a hidden gem') can be alternated with a game of bowling."

How do you know that customers are satisfied?
"The personal contact with our guests is the most important part of that. By paying attention to our guests, as an employee you hear directly what they really think of it, whether they are really satisfied. For us that is essential. In addition, the online reviews certainly don't lie. They show the personal attention that we pay to our guests. And if you compare that to the big hotel chains, it often stands out for us. Or as I recently read in a review by a guest: 'Hotel Mitland is a cozy business hotel'. That makes us happy".
